So, this was my first cake smash session. And I thought I would share my experience with you. I was really nervous to do this session. Because I didn't want to fail the parents and this little man only turns one once. Leading up to the big day, I spent my time and energy getting everything set up. I took multiple practice shots and kept changing the backdrop as well. As you can see I used the Tonka truck, the letters to spell out one, and I also used a number one as well. The banner I made out of scrap paper. And I used a piece of trim to help break up the back drop. Now I did tell the parents to bring multiple outfits. I did the first part of the session of him being dressed up then I obviously did the cake smash session last. Now let me just warn you, you will have a huge mess when you are done, but it is obviously worth it. I made sure to move around a lot to get different angles of him smashing his cake.

See! He was having so much fun. This is such a enjoyable thing to experience. Now I also made it a point to get pictures of just the hands and feet as well. Makes the moment more personable.

Then at the very end I also tried to get a picture of when mom picked the child up and away from the mess. I thought it was neat to capture...

But that was my first experience with the cake smash. And let me just say I can't wait to do more of these sessions. It was challenging to try make sure you capture everything, but it was well worth it!
